Guitar Wiz Wins the 2026 Apple Design Award for Inclusivity
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BENGALURU, India, June 2, 2026 - Guitar Wiz, the guitar learning and practice app developed by Bijoy Thangaraj, has won Apple’s 2026 Apple Design Award in the Inclusivity category. Apple announced the award today and later featured Guitar Wiz in the “Meet the 2026 Apple Design Award Winners” story and the “Apple Design Award Winners — Apps Homepage Shelf” on the App Store.
Apple Design Award recognizes accessible guitar learning
The Apple Design Award Inclusivity category celebrates apps that create an excellent experience for everyone by reflecting different abilities, backgrounds, and languages. Guitar Wiz was recognized for bringing an accessible set of guitar tools to iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.
Guitar Wiz supports VoiceOver throughout the app, including spoken guidance for pitch and chord learning. Dynamic Type, Increase Contrast, Differentiate Without Color, Reduced Motion, and a dark interface give players more ways to read, navigate, and use the app. The accessibility features guide provides additional product details.
Guitar chord, tuner, and practice tools across Apple devices
The app combines a searchable guitar chord library with diagrams, alternate shapes, theory details, and audio previews. Players can use the guitar tuner to tune an instrument, practice with the metronome, and develop musical ideas in Song Maker. Guitar Wiz also brings focused tools to Apple Watch, including a tuner, metronome, quick chord reference, and Chord of the Day through its Apple Watch experience.
The award follows Guitar Wiz’s selection as a finalist in the Inclusivity category on May 18, 2026. The winner recognition records a clear milestone in the development of an Apple-native guitar app by Bijoy Thangaraj.
